ZAP ‘EM DEAD
Battle Tactics
- You might want to rush straight into HARD mode, but that difficulty lives up to its name. You’ll stand a much better chance if you build your soldier up in NORMAL mode first. Pick up every armor boost and weapon you see, and you’ll soon be ready to take on greater challenges.
- EASY mode will get you past the map you’re on and unlock the next map, but your soldier won’t get much out of it; better weapons appear on harder difficulties, and the opposite is also true. Save it for when you’re stuck and just want to advance.
- The Infantry class is the easiest one for new players to learn, followed by the Pale Wing. The Air Raider’s weapons are unique and sometimes complicated to use – though their payoff is tremendous once you’ve mastered them – so you’re best off getting a feel for the basics first.
- You can carry two weapons into battle as a Pale Wing or Infantryman, and up to three weapons as an Air Raider. When selecting your weapons, consider what kind of terrain you’re about to head into; you won’t need anti-air weapons underground, but you might well need them up above.
- Be careful of explosive weapons, especially in Multiplayer. You or your friends can get caught in the blast just as easily as the enemy can.
- On that note, if you’re in a tank, don’t fire point-blank.
- When playing as a Pale Wing, plan every one of your flight swoops in advance. Know how far and how high you can go, and know how much energy each of your shots will cost. That way, you’ll never run out of juice unexpectedly.
Vehicles
-
E551 Gigantus
A new tank that the EDF developed. Its composite armor gives it great defense. Fires a 120mm cannon. Since Air Raiders and Infantry can’t run very fast, this tank can also be useful for moving them around the battlefield quickly. -
EF24 Bazelart
The main attack helicopter of the EDF. Unlike a Pale Wing’s jetpack, it never runs out of flight energy. The Bazelart also comes equipped with two powerful 30mm UT machine guns, which are exceptionally efficient at taking down enemy air units. -
SDL2
A hover bike the EDF recently developed for rapid response teams. Its hovering capabilities enable it to speed across any terrain, even faster than a Pale Wing can fly. It comes equipped with a 7.6mm auto cannon, useful against giant insects.
Multiplayer
Via Wi-Fi or ad hoc connection, you can play either Co-Op or Rumble (versus) mode with up to three other players. Air Raiders are particularly useful in Co-Op, as their equipment includes gear that can heal allies, create zones of protection, or supply energy to Pale Wings. With a broad range of tactical options, players can enjoy Co-Op mode more than ever before.
Players can communicate during Multiplayer via a wide variety of preset chat messages. Use them to plan attacks, choose targets, order your friends around, refuse those orders, rebuke your friends for refusing those orders, and more.
Air Raiders need Credits to request repeated bombardments. Remember that in Multiplayer, all players’ kills count toward those Credits, not just the Air Raider’s own kills.
Don’t bother fighting or competing over weapons in Multiplayer. Assuming at least one player survives the battle, the game will automatically distribute the weapons equally at the end.
In Multiplayer, use the Rescue button to revive fallen players. Be aware, though, that it’ll cost you half your armor (which functions as HP in this game) and that if your armor is below 25%, you won’t be able to Rescue anyone until you heal yourself first.
